i love lady gaga’s ‘born this way’ so i watched the video today. it was great. afterward, i wanted to read comments echoing my pleased sentiments about the video, stuff like “fuck yeah, she has amazing moves and pipes for a skinny white chick” or “the sci-fi short film at the start of the video is awesome” or “i love how dark and strange the video is, in contrast to how poppy and fun the song is.”
i should have known better.
i scrolled down and saw nothing but hateful, homophobic, religious fanatic weirdness. there went my good mood. back to my usual depressed outlook.
what really gets me about those comments is that i’ve never had a gay person come knock on my door and ask me to become gay. i’ve never had a gay person tell me being straight is wrong. gay people have never threatened me with eternal hell. i don’t see gay people spamming religious pages, berating them for their beliefs. so why do religious fanatics think it’s ok to do that kind of stuff?
the problem with religious fanatics is that they’re fanatical. pretty tough to reason with a nut job.
i say just enjoy the video and avoid reading the comments.
