floyd mayweather jr, the famous boxer (who also happens to be black), recently made a comment about how despite having a similar persona to conor mcgregor, mcgregor was quickly embraced by the general public while mayweather fought a long, uphill battle for acceptance. conor mcgregor responded by saying
“Floyd Mayweather, don’t ever bring race into my success again. I am an Irishman. My people have been oppressed our entire existence. And still very much are. I understand the feeling of prejudice. It is a feeling that is deep in my blood. In my family’s long history of warfare there was a time where just having the name ‘McGregor’ was punishable by death. Do not ever put me in a bracket like this again.”
then today, UFC president dana white weighed in on the topic, stating simply that “not everybody likes everybody.” when pressed about whether he believes black athletes are not treated different from white athletes, white cited muhammad ali and mike tyson as examples of loved, revered black athletes. yeah right, i’m sure both of them had no problems coming up in the sport due to their colour.
any white guy who claims to know what it’s like to be black, or claims that black people receive the exact same treatment as white people should have their brains transplanted into black bodies so they can live like that for a lifetime and see just how rosy it is. because until then, any white person who says that kind of stuff is like an apple saying they know what it’s like to be an orange — you don’t and you can’t.
what a perfect pair of delusional, entitled dickheads.
